The abilities don't change the gameplay significantly; druids remain a unit that attacks and casts spells, and this is true for almost all units (stalkers are a rare exception), so it shouldn't be considered that upgrades infinitely expand tactical possibilities. Although there are examples where it is indeed better to choose one upgrade in one case and another in another, there aren't many of them.
