Why be so harsh on people right away? Trash is a perfectly valid genre where things are allowed that aren't allowed in regular movies. I don't personally enjoy watching these kinds of films, but if I had to choose between awful trash and some purely festival-oriented, depressing film that no one is interested in except for elderly film academy members, I would choose trash. Peter Jackson, for example, started with this and then made Lord of the Rings.
