Nomination for “Player of the Year 2010”

Alex is undoubtedly strong, but can someone explain why he has the 2010 best player award as his avatar on a resource where he doesn't play or even appear?

Is he the best player, and did he even play here in 2010, or are there some other criteria for selecting the award winner?
P.S. I think a posthumous medal isn't particularly "useful" for a hero either.
