I have read the Bible, both testaments. I have read many apocrypha. And I can say that love is one of the aspects of all religions, not just Orthodox Christianity. Another thing is that no one lives by love alone. And in general, the Bible, especially the New Testament, is so sanitized that it's almost sickening. It's better to read the apocrypha; they really express honest opinions, without censorship. And I highly recommend reading "Hard to Be a God" by the Strugatsky brothers. And finally, if God loves everyone, then why is there hell and purgatory? Would you torture your children if they didn't take out the trash?
