Why can Necromancers create such impressive armies, where even a large number of skeletons can put up a good fight?

Don't make me laugh. Skeletons are usually less effective than even zombies. And to create armies that can defeat a Dwarf with a full set of runes, especially on a map with limited resources, is a true display of skill.
