War machines in Heroes V.

Where are the catapults in Heroes 4? :D

But much of it, and from Heroes 2, and the plot is not very heroic, IMHO.

What are you talking about? There weren't any towers in the fourth game, and any unit could break through the gates.
It's okay, they'll get better, not all at once, the main thing is not to stand still. Of course, I meant not the machines, and everything else is fine; those who want to can develop and enjoy it.
