Really? There aren't any?

I didn't say there weren't any; I mean that there aren't as many large-scale computer-generated special effects as you usually see in blockbusters of that level. Many of the special effects in Inception were done practically, with a minimum of computer graphics.

Western films usually have big problems with this. Most actors are one-dimensional and always play the same types of characters.

The problem isn't really with the acting itself, but with the fact that the characters are clichés. In general, last year many films didn't live up to the studios' expectations at the box office, and even 3D couldn't save them. This could serve as motivation to create something new, rather than exploiting existing sources and endless clichés.

If there's atmosphere, then on the big screen you become part of the film, experiencing all the events together with the characters, and so on.

If you go to a movie just for the 3D and special effects, then it's easier to set up a large flat-screen TV at home, buy glasses (you probably won't even have to buy them, they used to be in magazines), and watch movies at home. Given the increasing number of such films, I think such a solution will pay for itself quite quickly.

No home theater can provide the same 3D and sense of presence as a "big" movie theater. Although, in general, this industry is developing, that's true. As for the atmosphere, you can't tell from the trailers; you have to go to the cinema, but that's basically taking a gamble. From an atmospheric point of view, the film could turn out to be a disappointment.
