But what's the point then? O_o

Usually, people go to the movies because of:
1) An exciting plot
2) Spectacular battles, races - action in general
3) Beautiful acting
4) A captivating/engaging/subtle "literary component" (maybe I'm not expressing it correctly, but the essence is in the construction of dialogues, the narrative, if there is one. The plot can be banal)

IMO

People go to see fantasy movies primarily to watch the special effects, especially when it comes to 3D and IMAX. The plot is just an addition to the special effects. Even in Avatar, which made a huge amount of money, the plot wasn't particularly original. You can also go to a movie because of an interesting idea (like Inception, which doesn't have many special effects). I never pay attention to the acting; Western films usually don't have problems in that area, and I don't go to see domestic films. There is a certain category of films that are interesting to watch specifically for the plot, but these are not action movies. However, I don't see the point in watching them in a movie theater on a big screen; it's easier to wait for them to be released on disc and watch them at home.
