Orthodoxy ceased to be a unifying idea a long time ago. Do you believe in priests preaching asceticism who drive foreign cars and parade around in their fancy vehicles? I don't believe in that kind of Orthodoxy. And in the early 20th century, and in the 19th century, it was pretty much the same. I can say this as a historian. I don't blame the Chinese – they just want to live better, and it's not their fault that 30 million Siberians stand in their way. I don't blame the Russians – it's silly to blame an old man for not exercising. I blame our government, which only eats and sells us out. The best comparison of the relationship between Russia and Siberia was given by N.M. Yadrintsev in the mid-19th century: "Russia reminds me of a mother who is greedily sucking her own breast in front of a hungry child." And as soon as Siberians stand up for their rights, they immediately shout: "Separatists! They are undermining national unity." There is no unity. And the holiday on November 4th is complete idiocy. Let's celebrate every time Moscow is saved, and we'll have a continuous holiday all year long.
