We already talked about money: everyone needs to eat :). But they could at least make six sides :p.
There are no scopes, but this is more likely done for balance: so that the player uses melee units. Because it is impossible to play with only ranged units.

How many colors, what resolution, what 3D, how detailed the models are... So, all this is secondary to me. And the design of creatures, locations, and buildings is often more interesting to me than the plot itself.
"3D" is the key word. Without volume, it is difficult to perceive both color and shape. And it is better to admire the design of creatures in 3D.
