The Romanovs fell because they were not considered Russian. The Bolsheviks came to power under nationalistic slogans against the anti-national monarchy. Nicholas II had only 1/64 Russian blood and behaved like a German. And people saw him as a German (especially after Bloody Sunday). No Bolsheviks incited the people to go to the Tsar's palace; it was a provocateur from the Tsar's security service, the priest Gapon, who did it. The Bolsheviks, the real ones (before Khrushchev), sought power not for personal gain or a simple thirst for power. No, it's much scarier than that.
