Try to abandon the principle: "The thicker the club, the harder it hits." Playing as a Paladin will help you develop your tactical skills. When playing as a Paladin, I completed the final battle using only Stone Skin and Healing. I scored a little more points with a Mage and a Warrior, but the Paladin was only one day behind the Warrior: 9 and 10 days.
I can only dream of completing the game in 10, or even 15 days . It takes too many days to travel between various islands and continents :(. And completing the game on "Impossible" difficulty is also impossible for me :o.
If you turn every battle into a tactical masterpiece, it will take even more real time to complete the game. And it already takes a lot of time. When selecting armies and spells, my main condition is efficiency, i.e., so that the battles end as quickly as possible. In battles with strong heroes, I often have to resort to tricks, and even in battles with armies that are only slightly stronger than mine, I have to maneuver and use the entire arsenal of spirits and magic :). I must admit, it gets boring. For now, I'm just checking which hero is easiest to play with. In "Princess," I think it's the Mage. But in LoR, I'm leaning towards the Warrior/Paladin.
Haas is the strongest hero due to the strength of his troops (clubs :D). He uses a lot of magic, and it's extremely unpleasant, so you need to take level 5 troops to fight him. But did Kael pass him using only "Healing" and "Stone Skin"? I, at least, used "Dispel" and "Armageddon" with the Warrior  :o.
And regarding some of the following comments: I don't really want to play on Impossible difficulty, as I encounter many obstacles even on Normal. You can set a record on this difficulty level, and I enjoy the immense power of my avatar in the game, and easy victories are much more pleasant than one tense battle :). But this is just my opinion. And in battle, sometimes, one hit with a club can be more useful than several stabs with a rapier .
