It's not entirely necessary. This is true for a group of half a dozen people, where one of them doesn't understand anything from the conversation, but not for two people.

I rushed to help the noblewoman fend off trolling aimed at her estate, but halfway there, I fought BANDITS and picked up a poisoned harpist, whom I had to drag to the city =(
I lost twenty hours in total. I arrived, and it was already all captured :'-( There is a slight hope that there is no nonlinearity here, and it would have been captured anyway, but I'm already annoyed. I wanted to do something good, but I'll have to do it the usual way. I'll have to persevere.
