I also played BG. It's a good game. I completed it. I remember my team – my warrior with 2 swords and a gnome psychopath with an axe. And in Shadows of Amn, there was a great item – a cloak that reflected spells. Without it, it's hard to deal with those beholder creatures.
And I also remember the funny thing when I tried to destroy a lich, but he turned out to be immortal. So his head just floated around in the dungeon... And it was also cool to destroy enemies on a full screen with a single spell.
