I think the idea of "sword wounds on the face" is absurd. This isn't a toothpick. In fantasy, every other character sports long hair and a dramatic scar across their eye; usually, they wouldn't survive such a blow. I wish you had found a better-quality picture. There are descriptions of Alexander's appearance, as well as another, more famous sculpture, that support the idea that he was a handsome young man, which isn't surprising.
