Do you trust the information in Wikipedia? By the way, the link was provided to me as well. And I really can't recall any such myths.

As far as I know, anyone can write an article on Wikipedia, so it's a rather dubious source.
I can't imagine dead sphinxes, but in the form of a statue... Is the information about dead sphinxes confirmed by the developers, or is it just your speculation?
