Shouldn't they be stronger than ordinary mortals?
Angels are "ordinary mortals" in the game. Yes, they are physically stronger and larger than a human, and possess a couple of magical properties, but that's it. However, this does not mean that a human alone is unable to defeat an angel.
O God of Earth and Altar,
Bow down and hear our cry,
Our earthly rulers falter,
Our people drift and die,
The walls of gold entomb us,
The swords of scorn divide,
Take not thy thunder from us,
Take away our pride.
