Vampires and liches are different concepts, although I don't see a clear parallel myself. Liches are mages who don't care about their appearance, i.e., souls bound to decaying bodies (while somehow retaining their minds). Vampires, on the other hand, are humanoid creatures without strong magical abilities (although Nicholas is an exception).
Secondly, if we're talking about the classics, the souls of liches are never bound to the body; they are stored in a phylactery, which ensures the lich's immortality (and the ability to restore its body if it is destroyed).
