They're pretentious, and it's not necessary to make everyone pretentious. In this regard, the third game is excellent; there are no pretentious factions (even the Death Knights are fine). It has the ideal Necropolis (especially the ugly vampires, which are the coolest), although I prefer the Necropolis from the second game (even considering the funny vampire). It has its own kind of romance.
