There is no obligation to play games in this or any other tournament. One could have cooked up a report like "lost due to moral griffins on 114 - victory for Maru," but the guys decided not to bother.
I am against such misplaced liberalism. In any serious real sports tournament, a player's or team's refusal based on the principle of "I don't need this anymore" would lead to serious sanctions, up to disqualification and heavy fines. The same goes for match-fixing. This is, in my opinion, your first tournament where you are one of the leads—obviously little experience. Other more experienced and principled organizers view such things very poorly. Although, of course, since Vick lacks gaming honor in addition to other shortcomings, it's hard to do anything besides removing him from the tournament. P.S. - The organizers' arguments regarding the version did not convince me, and I reserve the right to choose—to demand SoD according to the regulations or play VT by mutual agreement.
