1. The rules state everything clearly (i.e., save before the final battle). The answer is obvious. But the meaning remains unclear. Why save before taking the city if the game doesn't kick us out after the battle?

2. Firstly, this is a violation of the rules. Secondly, this topic doesn't mention this change. And thirdly: why?
