From Thory's explanation, it follows that if Ar was Death/Observer, etc., and their protection against being killed simply triggered, there would be no clues at the crime scene. It would just be written as "attempted murder," and that's it.

What about a block, for example?

I don't see any blocks in this newspaper, although there definitely was one, because the Cyclops died. I have a feeling that one of the blockers died (Teng), or the Succubus visited the murdered Mold.
