The Generals game has an uninteresting plot and, consequently, a dull campaign. However, the multiplayer experience is excellent. At the very least, it's no worse than Starcraft.
So, it's better to install Starcraft 2 and play it.
I'll note, as someone who played Starcraft II™, that it has a very banal and boring plot.
Guys, as a fan of Command & Conquer, I can say: Only Command & Conquer 4 is worse than Generals.
