It's great to be in nature! The birds are singing, the music is pleasant, it's bright and cheerful! I really love this game for such extremely pleasant and cozy moments; and even now it is very beautiful in its isometric view, and the magic effects are stunning. From ambushes along the side of the road, cunning, laughing BANDITS and wolves attack, which I shoot with a bow, after first casting a stun spell. This is not what you might think. Apparently, "stun" paralyzes small monsters, simply slows down larger monsters and human warriors, and silences mages. However, there is also "slow" and "paralysis" there; these spells already perform exactly the functions that follow from their names.
I found a small house by the lake, near which an old man wandered around in confusion.
This old man has severe nearsightedness, and his glasses were stolen by bandits. He begged me to help him, and I, a kind soul, readily agreed. I found a bandit lair nearby and killed them all, although it wasn't that easy. I only needed to fire a couple of shots at the scoundrel for him to go to his ancestors, but I couldn't withstand more than a couple of hits - from an arrow or a sword. I had to lure them out from behind cover and use cover. But I found, among other goodies, glasses, and returned them to their owner. Grateful, he gave me a "bat" scroll. In addition to magic, the game also has simple scrolls with information about monsters. I need them to charm these creatures, but bats are not even worth the attention. Nevertheless, quests here are completed not for a reward or a solid amount of experience, as in soulless games from other companies, but for moral satisfaction and small bonuses. There is not even any min-maxing, a race for levels, and other number-crunching. But all weapons and spells are radically different from each other. [I love this elite game, I've been obsessed with it for years, and it doesn't need a sequel]
And here's what happens if you mess up in this chapter. [there are excellent arts here, I should extract them]
I suddenly thought that I hadn't taken a single picture of a bandit, so here's a lousy photo of a looted corpse and his dog.
I also walked around the surroundings, stumbled upon garrisons of warriors and mages. The warriors didn't let me into their fortress of Dan Mir, and the mages didn't let me into their fortress of Galava. I didn't really want to. Moreover...
I reached a crossroads where an armorer, an armor smith, and a magic merchant were located in a very convenient place. I bought a hundred arrows from the armorer for a quiver, and a scorpion scroll and "cure poison" from the magician. It will come in handy.
And so - the road led me to the Mana Mines. The mine foreman told me that demons and giant insects SUDDENLY infiltrated the mines or were sent by someone, the miners barricaded themselves in the tunnels, and I had to save everyone and bring them to the surface. The director even showed incredible generosity - he officially allowed me to take a bow and a quiver of arrows from his chest in the room. He didn't say anything about the miners' beds, and I figured that since it wasn't forbidden, I should steal everything that was poorly lying around from the bedside tables. Am I supposed to save the world in sneakers and a T-shirt?
Somewhere there I found a demon scroll, and it was very useful, as there were many demons in the mine, they are small and I can charm four at a time, and they shoot. An ideal group for clearing.
I got the people out of the first level
Finally, I saved everyone, cleared the mines, and "the mages in Galava will have a lot of work to do today." At the same time, I learned that Hecuba is behind these events, and I need to catch her. She is raising an army of the undead on the Fields of Valor.
Before leaving, I bought fire arrows [because I KNEW], a bow with an enchantment for faster firing, and a cloak of regeneration.
