Why didn't it happen? It's a very common competitive format! It's much more logical than playing for points.
However, special maps are needed for this. For example, maps like Kyrreland.

I would support VDV_forever; playing against the clock isn't very appealing to me. I always prefer to play for fun, taking my time. But if there are going to be competitions based on who finishes faster, I probably won't participate...
