secondly, there are bands playing in the Power/Thrash Metal genre. I just can't recall any of them...

The first thing that comes to mind when combining thrash/power is Demons and Wizards, a side project of Blind Guardian vocalist Hansi Kürsch. I don't like all the songs myself, but there's something to listen to ;)
