For most adults who don't think much, any mention, study, or discussion of fascism is a source of misunderstanding and, I guess, "fear."
Although I exaggerated; it's not the majority, but a minority. But there is some percentage.

I understand your point. Now, just some clarifications. It's strange, because many Soviet people {adults} were raised by their grandfathers who fought in the war and later told stories about fascism, the value of medals, and much more... These same people, in turn, raised us and passed on what their grandfathers had said. So, we learned about the history of the Great Patriotic War, about fascism, and so on, from adults. That's why it was strange for me to hear that there are people who distance themselves from all this; I thought there were {almost} none. Staying away is the first step towards forgetting, and then rewriting history.

Well, I didn't say that's what was written there; it's just an article.
