What nonsense is this? How can you compare resources and units?

Silence.
Well, I can explain.
They cut down on resources – unifying the economy. Previously, each race had different development opportunities, used the market, bought, sold, and grabbed the mines it needed. Now, all races will need the same thing.
Unifying units – same idea. If you imagine that all races are glued together into one model, then the original tactics of each will go down the drain.
It just seemed to me that this would be more obvious in the armies.
