...Some newcomers, as I see, don't benefit at all from playing with skilled players; their level remains zero. I'm not demanding that they be placed on the first team, but they need to learn at least the basics, like how to build up their units, etc. =)

Then, on the contrary, playing with equally unskilled players should be prohibited. Right now, it's like this: they play with a top player, get completely crushed, and think, "Oh, I was just unlucky." Then they play a few games with players of similar skill, win half of them, feel somewhat better, find confirmation for their thoughts that they're not completely hopeless, and the main thing is that they get a little bit of luck. But if they played with stronger players, they would constantly lose, and then they might start to think that maybe they need to change something in their gameplay, instead of just relying on luck.

In general, being able to critically evaluate your own skill level is already a sign of a certain level of skill.
