On-line rating (discussion)

At what point does rating farming begin? After 1, 3, 5, 10, or how many games? Maybe we should ask Pasha to conduct a poll? He loves that. If we completely prohibit it, how will they learn to play without playing against more skilled players? Who will decide who they can play with and who they can't? Many newcomers sincerely believe they are the best players in the world, but just a little unlucky:rolleyes:

I haven't said anything about an official ban yet (although I wouldn't mind, but the rating leaders are terribly slow and conservative; they don't even want to do something as simple and necessary as excluding players with fewer than 5-10 games from the rating). Furthermore, you can play, but you shouldn't get carried away with regularly farming the rating against unskilled newcomers, IMHO. This especially applies to some players – I think they'll understand =). By the way, some newcomers don't seem to benefit from playing against skilled players; their level remains zero. I'm not demanding a complete ban, but they need to learn at least the basic things, like rushing, etc.
