Personally, and as I see it, some others feel the same way, I couldn't care less about the setting. The game, overall, depends on how the GM runs it, as well as the player's interest. If people decide for themselves that the game isn't interesting, no matter how hard the GM tries, it will still be bad.
And really, let the GM first present their setting for the players to see, and then everyone can decide by voting. This is all incredibly tedious, and I suspect that half of those who support it won't even play.
I highly doubt you know anything about Dune, so you wouldn't be in a position to judge whether your avatars fit the setting.
I, for example, am a newbie in Dune, so I wouldn't use any avatars based on the setting :D
