In the first two or three scenarios, there are battles with thugs led by a woman with a covered face. Then she asks for mercy. If you don't show mercy, she'll still run away, shaking her fist and promising to return later, I think, but you'll get five hundred gold. If you show mercy, she becomes another hero, and you can hire thugs into your army.
By the way, this heroine is called Lady Vesfolka in your Russian version.
