Often, when choosing a castle in a match against an opponent, we face a choice: castles are chosen at will or through a draft...

To find a compromise and add variety, I suggest trying a shortened draft, especially in ranked matches (short draft, 4-draft, or even a Loi draft :D):

It's simple: we draft up to 4 castles.

For example,
Invisible: 1. Swamp
Wbn: 2. Necropolis
Invisible: 3. Conflux
Wbn: 4. Castle
Invisible chooses from Dungeon, Rampart, Tower, Inferno, Barbarian,
Wbn chooses from the remaining four, and also chooses the color...
