Considering that almost no one plays them, it would be better to choose just one; it will be easier to learn. Rather than having a dozen to choose from, and then 95% of the participants abandon them.
Yes. I've noticed this trend; organizers deliberately include more maps so that players don't overplay them. And in response, players ignore fixed-map tournaments precisely because they don't want to learn too many maps.
It's better to have one map per tournament, but a good and well-designed one: LoM, Guardians, 7 Lakes, and 2-3 others, so there's still a choice. And let those who want to overplay it do so; it's even interesting to see what will happen.
This is better than when people don't play fixed-map tournaments at all; it's better for players to become familiar with the golden fund of mapmaking.
