I assure you, 8mm6 wasn't the default setting.

The rules initially stated that the default template and a couple of other templates would be determined by a vote. There was no mention of "cm" in the vote. So, there was no deception. :)

I would gladly play a quick Jebus or a simple Mini-Nostalgia,
but 8mm6 is the default:smile05:
The opponent will insist on 8mm6, and then you'll be stuck playing each other for 10 weeks.

What can I do if 8mm6 won the vote? I took into account the opinion of the majority. And if the opponent insists, they will be right. Personally, I think 8mm6 is the most balanced of all the templates I know.
If the opponent insists on 8mm6, they are unlikely to agree to "cm," right?

"Cherk" is the best!

Using "Cherk" out of the three templates is pointless. Just imagine. And giving you five or more templates – that also seems pointless to me. Let's start with these first. :)
