Hmm... it seems to me that the main clue of this night points to Thorium. Because it is a chemical element, isolated from a mineral. The spear was obviously radioactive.

Anyway, since I probably won't be around all day tomorrow (congratulate me, I got my diploma:)), I'm leaving my vote against Thorium.
