In my opinion, the decision regarding those technical forfeits is utter nonsense. Not so long ago, during the "Aeroflot 2010" chess tournament, which also used the Swiss system, a well-known player was disqualified because he had allegedly deliberately lowered his rating before the tournament to participate in a weaker competition and win a decent cash prize (which, if you think about it, is a kind of cheating). The player was 5-0 when he was finally disqualified, but for some reason, no one even considered awarding technical forfeits to all his opponents; otherwise, what's the point of the Swiss system? If a player loses a game, whether in chess or in Heroes, they are given an opponent with the SAME number of points in the next round, not someone with more. So, if you lose one game, you play against someone who also lost one. Receiving an unexpected point or a higher ranking after the tournament is complete is absurd. In that case, it would be logical to assume that the entire tournament should be replayed because the loser's pairings are invalid. Personally, I don't care much, as I don't participate in these events anyway, but this could create a VERY BAD PRECEDENT and play a decisive role in determining the qualifying places! :smile01:
