I have no idea for whom the SOY tournament was held. Kobra even made a special selection. It's a pity that the fix matches died out :(
They wouldn't have died out if they had made a reasonable set of rules.

To play SoY successfully, you need to spend a huge amount of time just to do an optimal draft. That is, even before the tournament starts, you need to study all the maps, create a plan for the Castles, etc. Remember our unfulfilled match - it was practically lost by you already during the draft.

Studying all sorts of tricks of individual maps requires an unreal amount of time; personally, I couldn't handle it. I quickly played a relatively familiar SevenLakes, and I only managed to get a general idea of the rest.

To make fix matches playable, one way to do it is, for example, a Swiss system, where a specific map is assigned for each round, and the list is compiled in advance. Let's say 3 weeks are given for each round, and any of the players can request a draft of the Castles 2-3 days before the game.

In this mode, you can quite easily play - you spend a week studying the map, practice the draft, argue for a couple of days about a specific color/Castle, play, and you don't worry about other maps for now.

And the group stage for Heroes tournaments, as practice shows, is suitable only in exceptional cases - in tournaments like RP, Premier League, FB, where the competition is not only for first place, but also for many other places. But in most tournaments, there is only one place - first place, and the rest does not motivate people much. Therefore, for most Heroes tournaments, there are only 2 and a half options - an Olympic system, a Swiss system, and with certain reservations, a double-elimination bracket (for a not very disciplined group).

In fact, I introduced such a model in fix match championships on the League and in the St. Petersburg championship. Because the previous scheme with the map draft was convenient only for those who grind fix matches. And in recent years, there are practically none of them.
