It's not specified what size the ice is; perhaps it's so large compared to the room's dimensions that bringing it in would lower the room's temperature. Also, the air pressure isn't mentioned, and the melting point of ice is assumed to be at a specific pressure. It's not indicated whether any excess cold/heat is being removed or not.
