Regular online games are where the skills of good players actually improve.

There are real-life examples where a player plays almost 100 games in a season, but there is no improvement in skill. Skill is not developed in games!

For many, the most interesting thing is to learn something new, to develop their own style, rather than just watch ATG streams and copy.

When there is something to learn, then copying is not a sin. For example, if I play Luna, is there anything wrong with someone copying me?
