It's simply amazing how one decision by AK undermined its reputation.

It didn't undermine anything, except perhaps in the eyes of a few people who are either not active players at all, or are personal friends of Alex. I don't think I'll be wrong if I say that 70-80% or more of the active players (whose opinion matters much more than that of inactive players) have retained their previous trust in AK as a whole and in each of its members in particular, despite the impression that may be created by systematic posts of this kind from a few people.
