When organizing a new tournament, I will base it on the total number of participants and the time of their arrival.
For example, some may be able to arrive on Thursday instead of Friday and start earlier, as there will be enough Michurinsk players to compete against.
On Friday - by the time the main group of players arrives - the second round will start, not the first. Those who didn't play will receive a conditional half point. Then, over the three days, an opportunity will arise sooner or later (for example, two people with half points play quickly - and they play against each other).

And some won't even need to play the first round - they'll quickly get a few losses and go relax. Therefore, a comprehensive, flexible approach to the tournament. In general, this system is difficult to explain, but there have been no complaints, even though top players have played in my tournaments.

That is, in fact, 1 day - 1 round, more than similar conditions, especially since I follow the regulations.

But, as numerous practices show, entry fees are necessary for playing at the highest level or close to it, and for the discipline of the tournament participants. Playing without an incentive or any interest leads to sloppiness. And I would like to play against strong opponents and show a decent level myself.
On the other hand, if most people are in favor of entry fees, those who disagree can play among themselves, or watch, or play poker, or get drunk. There are many options.
