One more confirmation that the rating calculation system is imperfect — not only does the player occupying 5th place in the April rating play in the novice tournament and lose, despite being ahead of players like Smekhova, Stinger, and others... Though what’s there to say, if you judge by him, 35 other people play better than the same Stinger, including me))))))
Everyone has long known that no rating can reflect true skill. Let’s consider the official rating as just the tournament table of one strange tournament, where participants play a different number of games with different opponents. To hold the top spots in it, it’s enough to regularly play against opponents clearly weaker than you and try not to play with strong opponents.
During my time on HeroesWorld, I’ve formed my own personal rating in my head, which says that Stinger is stronger than ten’yu bezdomnoy, and Kash and zloi_romantik are somewhere at the same level :)
As for Basyr’s throw — what can I say..
I already know this trait of his. The guy simply realizes what he should ideally do for normal development in the first week, but can’t do it (blocks, weak starting army, skewed resource distribution). The desire to overcome all difficulties is certainly commendable.. But: you must understand that capturing a secondary town on week one, killing a camp, building cavalry in the castle, etc. — that’s not the goal of the game. The goal is to win, and for that, you first need to know how to survive. Sometimes it makes sense to scrounge around off-road until reinforcements arrive, gather resources, run through stat-boosting structures, and so on. If you can’t leave your spawn without huge losses — look for alternative development paths. Heroes is far from a straightforward game to play by the book. Say, you can’t build cavalry, but you have necromancy and potential skeletons — the simplest example. :) In one of my games, I couldn’t build cavalry either, but a dungeon was temptingly visible on the horizon, and in the neighboring treasure zone I spotted 2 external dragon dwellings from the lookout — the development plan was immediately clear, forget the cavalry :)
And finally, a quote said to me by someone, because I confess, I’m guilty myself :smile39:
"Don’t try too hard! Try in moderation!"
