AmberSoler, Qwerty, Invisible, Fireball +1!
I read the thread and was amazed by some rather outdated views! I thought that only "green" newcomers needed to be convinced of the value of tactics!..
Exactly!
Do you still not appreciate tactics? Then we're coming for you! :) With tactics! We will fight with you "with earth and water" and win! :)
To particularly stubborn tacticophobes :) I offer my save from the final battle for Mirktown (the "Defiance Against Death" campaign, /topic/at/332903/ scenario 5). Given: I have a cool mage Erish with dragons of all kinds and titans. The enemy is the Emperor: a mixed Necropolis-Inferno guard. Required: defeat him! I enter the castle in anticipation of an early victory. But the Emperor has expert tactics plus a constant fire shield! At the beginning of the battle: the enemy builds his troops outside the castle, and then... DARKNESS!!!... :( I replayed it many times, but won only once, and even then - barely...
And what's the problem? It's an elementary battle. I thought it was really difficult. The first round begins, azure wights appear, the computer casts mass acceleration, you cast mass deceleration in response, then he casts haste, you attack liches (titans + enchanted creatures). With the wights, he killed the liches with dragons. He attacked vampires and extinguished them, and along the way, he hit some units with a dragon. In the next round, everyone retreats. Then this clown comes out of the castle and starts casting antimagic, where he gets beaten, and the losses are very small. Only level 1 spells were used: slowing, shield, skin. Oh, and as a bonus, I removed the enchantments from three of his stacks. And that's all :).
