Tactics is a useful skill. It makes sense to take it if you've already acquired a certain number of important skills (i.e., logistics/offense/defense/earth or air – although, in my opinion, with tactics, you can take fire or water instead of air, as curse/blind/berserk or bless/prayer/teleport can be decisive, especially if there aren't many mermaids and dimdors expected). Also, if you have to choose between tactics and wisdom at level 6, tactics will be much more useful than wisdom, because it's rare to be able to build a tower before 3-4 weeks, and finding great pandoras (on levels 4 and 5) is also too random, and by that time, you'll already have reached level 12.
