You'll laugh, but you'll have to redo this mission. When installing patches, you have to restart the last mission you completed, otherwise, you'll simply be kicked out of the game or experience what you just described. If you really can't be bothered to do it all over again: uninstall the patches back to the version you used when completing this mission. Complete it, reinstall the patches, and you'll be happy!;)
I replayed it, smashed three red ones, leveled up the heroes to level 25-26, took all the Castles, I was congratulated with "mission complete," and then I found myself in the main menu.
All of this happened after buying the Russian version and applying patches up to 1.3. I chose "restart mission," completed it, and the result was the same.
