The issue has been discussed repeatedly on various forums, and no alternative solutions that would be clearly better than a simple "it's not possible" have emerged. Therefore, in my opinion, it's best not to overcomplicate things.
Red already has a significant advantage over blue throughout the day in terms of map control and all actions involving direct contact. With the current pace of the game, having the day is a huge advantage, and I don't think there's a reason to complicate the rules further to make things easier for red.
