Revan and the current Archmage Magnus were slowly strolling through the city park; something was bothering the latter. Revan couldn't help but notice:
- Tell me, Magnus, why did you invite me for this walk?
- Revan, we are friends, do I need a reason?
Revan stopped.
- I can tell lies from truth. And even though you are a powerful archmage, I can still sense anxiety in your voice.
The Archmage was prepared for such a turn of events.
- The day after the masquerade ball, you couldn't be found; where were you?
- Couldn't be found? Was someone following me?
- No. That was just a slip of the tongue. Besides, you know that the girl from the masquerade ball who caught your attention mysteriously disappeared? But what is even more terrible: her body was found in her apartment... it was so mutilated that it was impossible to determine whether it was a man or a woman. - Magnus paused for a moment, then asked - doesn't this bother you, Revan?
- Magnus...
Both mages made two sharp lunges towards each other, which resulted in two magical streams colliding: one was pure and transparent, radiating wisdom and light, while the second was shrouded in darkness...
- So, I wasn't mistaken. - the Archmage commented desperately; he feared most that his assumptions would prove true. - How did you come to this?!
The Dark Mage didn't answer; instead, he raised his right hand (the left remained focused on channeling the magical stream) and clenched it into a fist – the ground beneath the Archmage began to crack, and heavy smoke poured out of the cracks. The Archmage jumped back in time, otherwise, the strongest flame would have engulfed him completely.
The Light Mage gathered the magical energy in his hands, but at the last moment, he was knocked off his feet by a wind that turned into a small tornado, lifting him into the air and then throwing him into the city... Magical skills allowed him to make a "soft" landing. Revan was nowhere to be seen. Magnus cautiously walked through the streets of the city, peering into every corner. "Where are you?"...
Turning sharply, the Archmage stopped the opponent's attack and launched a counterattack - rising into the sky, he rushed towards his enemy like a wedge, trying to deliver a fatal blow...
Breaking through a massive hole in the ground, both fell into the sewer. The balance of power shifted again in favor of Revan; he decided to drown his opponent using water magic: the water level in the sewer rose sharply, and a strong wind blowing from Revan created huge waves that carried the Archmage far away...
Magnus woke up in the hospital. He realized that he had lost the battle... but not the war. Ignoring the doctors' advice, he assembled the first punitive squad in the history of the academy, and himself began preparing some powerful spell capable of defeating the Dark Mage.
The next day, an truly epic battle took place in the middle of the city. The last memory of Magnus was the ashes of Revan scattering in the wind...
Today.
- Look!
All the mages preparing for the battle turned their gaze to where Drakkoshi pointed: a bright, multicolored light emanated from somewhere in the center of the city.
- He is preparing something terrible... - even the Archmage felt uneasy - we must hurry!
The mages didn't hesitate and immediately moved towards the source of the light. When they reached their destination, their enemies were before them:
A dozen unknown mage-criminals of all kinds stood around the entire city square, near a huge statue (which hadn't been there before), radiating a bright light; Arandor sat on its shoulder, looking indifferently into the distance, as if paying no attention to those who arrived. Behind him was a new sword-staff, and a long dagger was attached to his belt.
Neyra also sat on one of the roofs, casually waving her legs. She held two sharp blades in her hands, stained with someone's blood.
Vegtam was like a shadow, and if it weren't for the bright light emanating from the statue, he would have been completely invisible in the darkness. He stood to the right of Revan, who was standing on the roof of the central building.
Revan's face was hidden behind a mask. A one-handed flamberge could be seen under the dark cloak, and an amulet hung around his neck, which clearly attracted the Archmage's attention.
A great battle was about to begin...
