Managed to defeat the Miner on an SM map, but personally this game proved nothing to me regarding Gunnar's strength for a Dungeon on XL maps: the opponent had only one path to the GO, which he kept silent about for a while, although I (and not only me – on the portal too))) consider this setup a restart :)
Well, at the start, not suspecting that the opponent was stuck in impassable terrain (but having taken native secondary skills), I level Gunnar without sparing Troglodytes (it's absolutely impossible to preserve them with him))))
By the end of week 1, Gunya finished around level 8, breaking through into the swamp and snatching the Gloves as a bonus; due to a home Dragon Utopia in the swamp, bulls in the Citadel, home Manticores in the Castle
On week 2, I run to the Human Fort along another path and turn back to take the giant external dwelling on the snow beyond the swamp (and I didn't see any other external dwellings))) but along the way I break through a stack of Harpies past the lift, below is a stack of Archers – I take them out too, send a scout – the Dungeon is unguarded! :) I send the main hero in anyway, I take it: the released scout reveals peace and quiet on the lookout, Gunnar with Bless is already hurrying to the external dwelling – at the start of week 3 there will be 6 Giants ;) but Ciele, running through the underground, reveals a second lookout, which shows the almost defenseless Miner's capital with just Deemer on low stats :) plans change drastically: Gunnar turns around and stands before the GO (a stack of Champions, below is a stack of Pit Lords)
plan: having bought Eyes and unretaliating Harpies from two Dungeons, charge the guard under Bless and reach 131 – mana for 4 Blesses for 4 rounds, with 13 Attack it should burn through
Down below, of course, the unblessed Demons, who also got Morale like scoundrels, messed things up, although I tried not to eliminate Pit stacks but cull them evenly – yet the capital is ours, even though I lingered at the walls: transferring the treasury from the red rush to Ciele in the last seconds, I gave her the remaining Harpies, leaving the Minotaurs – useless for the assault – to Deemer's ranged attack, which was a shame – they would've been useful later in the Dragon Utopia ;) nevertheless, the next turn I check that it's not a lot and attack even without the bulls – only a stack of Evil Eyes and some Minotaurs remain, but for the first time in 2 consecutive games I collect the most relevant Admiral's Hat :D :D
Meanwhile, the Miner crawls out onto the grass near the Castle, his stats aren't particularly impressive, the treasury too – but he has nowhere to go, he'll run to me himself – I calmly go to the giant external dwelling and finally claim it))) Shakti clears the grassy respawn, taking the Griffin Conservatory, discovered too late by my scouts, but his position is clearly losing: everything visible is already cleared, and the path into the darkness toward the opponent is a direct route to a prepared attack by Gunnar with no chance
So the opponent decided not to drag it out and surrendered – a shame, of course, that we couldn't really measure strength, but in an even setup, imho Shakti is still objectively stronger on SM maps: Gunya has nowhere to run, he'll be intercepted everywhere, and development with Troglodytes is clearly faster – with fewer losses too :)
But thanks to the opponent for a report game – I consider fighting with a single road a courageous endeavor, even if unpromising, even with Shakti...
