Try asking the same question on the Ubisoft forums; they'll tear you apart right away :D. For Ubisoft players, 5 minutes is an eternity. But seriously, the 8-minute time limit wasn't just pulled out of thin air. This issue has been discussed before, and 8 minutes is currently the most optimal time for a turn. Ad already outlined some of the factors that were considered when choosing the time in his post. But there's also the concept of mutual agreement; in principle, players can jointly decide on a turn time, whether it's 1 minute or 20, and this is not prohibited. However, 8 minutes remains the standard.
Well, I don't know... I don't really like playing on Ubisoft; I prefer Hamachi. But it's true that 5 minutes is too long! I really lose control when a game that's supposed to take a week drags on for an hour or two; it's torture for me :( :( :(
I'm already used to 3-4 minutes... in reality, some players are just slow, reading all sorts of nonsense, or chatting on ICQ, or going to eat, or leaving for some other reason, delaying their turn... it's ridiculous.
This is just my personal opinion; I'm not imposing it on anyone... I'm just expressing what's been bothering me
